Redbridge Ballet School (“RBS”, “the School”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of our pupils and their families. This document explains how we collect, use, store and protect personal information in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Personal information such as pupil name, date of birth and home address
Parent or guardian names and contact details
Emergency contact details
Attendance information including lessons attended and absences
Assessment and examination results
Relevant medical information needed for pupil safety

Why We Collect and Use This Information

To support pupil learning and ensure appropriate class placement
To monitor attendance and pupil progression
To provide pastoral care and ensure teachers are aware of medical conditions
To contact parents or guardians in emergencies
To communicate timetable updates and school announcements
To register pupils for examinations with accredited dance boards
To manage administration including registers and invoicing

Lawful Basis for Processing Data

Under Article 6 of the UK GDPR, Redbridge Ballet School processes personal data on a contractual basis
because it is necessary for the provision of dance tuition and related services. Where medical information
is collected, this may also be processed under Article 9 (special category data) for health and safety
purposes.

Storing Pupil Data

Pupil data is stored securely for the duration of a pupil’s enrolment at the School. After a pupil leaves the
School, records may be archived where necessary for safeguarding or legal purposes. Personal data is
stored securely and access is restricted to authorised personnel only.
Sharing Pupil Information

Information may be shared with accredited examination boards when pupils are entered for examinations:

The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD)
The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD)

Photography and Filming

Photographs or video recordings may be taken during classes, rehearsals, performances and school
events for marketing and promotional purposes including printed materials, the school website and social
media. Parents and pupils may opt out of photography or filming if they do not wish to be included.

Social Media

Redbridge Ballet School may share photos or short video clips from classes and performances on social
media platforms including Facebook and Instagram. These images will not include identifying personal
information. First names may only be used with explicit parental consent.
