We follow the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) syllabi for Tap, from Pre-Primary through to Advanced Two. Fast-paced and exciting, the syllabus challenges students to master intricate rhythmic sound combinations while developing strong timing, coordination, and clarity. Routines are lively, stylish, and engaging, making them impressive to both dancers and non-dancers alike.
While perfecting increasingly complex work requires time and practice, the process of learning challenging steps at ever-quickening tempos is both rewarding and great fun. At its heart, the joy of tap lies in the fact that, when performed well, it can be not only seen, but heard.
Tap is introduced from the age of three through our Pre-School syllabus, uniquely designed by Redbridge Ballet School to introduce tap dancing to our youngest pupils within a high-energy, enjoyable, and structured class environment. Children delight in the opportunity to dance and make noise at the same time and are actively encouraged to do both. Many pupils who begin tap at this early stage go on to excel throughout the examination system
